It is a workout in and of itself to clap along to your favourite music. Rapping while working out is a certain way to end up out of breath, but with this mix of modern songs and classics, you might not have a choice.
My favourite music to listen to while working out is hip-hop because it motivates me to finish the last mile, pedal up the hill, and give my best during a cardio dance session. In fact, this playlist was created in just that manner. These tunes will keep you motivated throughout your whole workout, whether it’s an HIIT programme or a powerlifting session.
If you play these songs in the sequence I listed them, you’ll hear a variety of fast-paced songs that will increase your heart rate, followed by one or two slower tracks that will give you a little break before the pace goes back up. Having saying that, you should feel free to remix as you see fit in keeping with the spirit of the genre.
I’ve included a couple of my favourite ’90s and early 2000s favourites, such as SNAP”I !’s Got the Power” and “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas, in addition to more recent releases, including “Tempo” by Lizzo and “Poke It Out” by Wale. View the Spotify playlist below, or scroll down to get the whole track list. Move along!
